Lead BESS at Vicars Community Center
Atlanta, Georgia
Objective: Provide back-up power
Technology: Lead BESS
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) allow as much renewable energy to be captured as possible. The Vicars Community Resilience Hub, powered by a solar installation connected to Stryten Energy’s BESS, will provide a safe, reliable source of power for community members to use during sustained power outages, severe weather events, and other times of need. In disadvantaged communities, where they may have to wait for the power to come back on, these hubs represent a vital safety net in uncertain circumstances.
Lead BESS at Georgia Tech
Atlanta, Georgia
Objective: Energy cycling and achieve carbon-neutral objectives
Technology: Lead BESS
The installation at Georgia Tech's Carbon Neutral Energy Solutions Laboratory aims to create a living-learning lab on campus that supports research and real-world applications of medium-duration energy storage solutions. Lead BESS was selected for this installation due to its cost-effectiveness, high discharge rates, and recyclability, backed by extensive research demonstrating its reliable performance.
The BESS at Georgia Tech is a dynamic storage system that integrates renewable energy sources into the existing power mix, providing stable and dependable backup power and reducing grid dependency during peak hours. With its additional components and software, the system is capable of bi-directional charging, allowing current to flow into the battery for charging and out of the battery to power the grid or microgrid.
Vanadium BESS at Snapping Shoals EMC
Covington, Georgia
Objective: Store and provide clean energy to utility customers
Technology: Vanadium BESS
This project represents the first vanadium energy storage system manufactured and installed in the state of Georgia. Storion Energy LLC, an affiliate of Stryten Energy, is partnering with Snapping Shoals EMC to demonstrate its advanced vanadium flow battery technology for energy storage and deployment uses and evaluate where the technology will provide the maximum benefits. The VRFB System can store and provide clean energy to Snapping Shoals customers for up to 20 years without losing capacity.
